Located an hour outside of Vancouver, Chilliwack is a city of 93,000 surrounded by mountains and outdoor activities for residents to enjoy. Historically known as a part of the late 1800’s Gold Rush, Chilliwack served as a resting point for many prospectors and as a meeting point for those using rail transport.
The small Jewish population of Chilliwack is served by the Centre for Judaism of the Lower Fraser Valley as well as the Burquest Jewish Community Association. Due to small size of the Jewish population in BC, many communities overlap in the shuls and facilities they use.
We are grateful for Mayor Ken Popove’s participation in this year’s Jewish Heritage Month and appreciate his support of Canada’s Jewish community.
