JEWISH HERITAGE MONTH PARTNER: AJAX, ONTARIO
Located some 16 km east of downtown Toronto in Durham region, Ajax has experienced tremendous growth over the past decades. Its population today is approaching 130,000, and the Jewish community is growing in the municipality as well.
Ajax is home to the B’nai Shalom V’Tikvah Synagogue, a reform congregation. There is also Chabad of Durham Region in nearby Whitby.
Mayor Shaun Collier and Ajax Council have once again issued a proclamation declaring May 2023 as Jewish Heritage Month in Ajax. We thank them for continuing to support Jewish Heritage Month in Canada.
Située à quelque 16 km à l’est du centre-ville de Toronto, dans la région de Durham, Ajax a connu une croissance considérable au cours des dernières décennies. Sa population approche aujourd’hui les 130 000 habitants, et la communauté juive se développe également dans la municipalité.
Ajax abrite la synagogue B’nai Shalom V’Tikvah, une congrégation réformée. Il y a également Chabad of Durham Region dans la ville voisine de Whitby.
