Appointed to the Senate in 2016, Senator Marc Gold has been the Representative of the Government in the Senate since 2020. Senator Gold currently sits as an Independent Senator.
Hailing from Montreal, Quebec, Senator Gold is a distinguished lawyer with a law degree from Harvard Law School. He is a member of the Quebec and Ontario Bars and taught at the University of Toronto’s Osgoode Law School for 12 years, where he eventually became Associate Dean.
Senator Gold is a proud Jewish Canadian with a lifetime of involvement in the Jewish community. He is a Chair of the Jewish Federations of Canada, a member of the Board of Governors for the Jewish Agency of Israel and a former chairperson of the Canada-Israel Committee.

Originaire de Montréal, au Québec, le sénateur Gold est un avocat distingué, diplômé de l’École de droit de Harvard. Il est membre des barreaux du Québec et de l’Ontario et a enseigné pendant 12 ans à l’École de droit Osgoode de l’Université de Toronto, où il est devenu doyen associé.
Le sénateur Gold est un fier Canadien juif qui s’est engagé toute sa vie dans la communauté juive. Il est président de la Fédération juive du Canada, membre du Conseil des gouverneurs de l’Agence juive d’Israël et ancien président du Comité Canada-Israël.
