A lifelong resident of Winnipeg, MLA Dougald Lamont has a long record of service in Manitoba’s political scene.
MLA Lamont is fluently bilingual with two degrees in English literature from the University of Manitoba. He has worked as a writer, editor and policy analyst for over 25 years. His career spans both the private and public sectors, having worked for charities, elected officials and various start-ups.
In addition to his career in politics, MLA Lamont taught Canadian literature at the University of Manitoba and has been a lecturer in government-business relations at the University of Winnipeg.
He was first elected to the Manitoba Legislature in 2018 after becoming leader of the Manitoba Liberal Party in 2017.
B’nai Brith thanks MLA Lamont for his support of Jewish Heritage Month and for being a key partner in the Manitoba Legislature adopting the IHRA definition of antisemitism in 2022.
Résident de Winnipeg depuis toujours, le député Dougald Lamont a de longs états de service sur la scène politique manitobaine.
Parfaitement bilingue, le député Lamont est titulaire de deux diplômes en littérature anglaise de l’Université du Manitoba. Il travaille comme rédacteur, éditeur et analyste politique depuis plus de 25 ans. Il a travaillé dans les secteurs privé et public, pour des organisations caritatives, des élus et diverses entreprises en démarrage.
Outre sa carrière politique, M. Lamont a enseigné la littérature canadienne à l’université du Manitoba et a été chargé de cours sur les relations entre le gouvernement et les entreprises à l’université de Winnipeg.
Il a été élu pour la première fois à l’Assemblée législative du Manitoba en 2018 après être devenu chef du Parti libéral du Manitoba en 2017.
