JEWISH HERITAGE MONTH PARTNER: River Heights, Manitoba
MLA Jon Gerrard was born in England and raised in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
He has had a long and distinguished career in both politics and medicine, having obtained a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Saskatchewan, a Doctor of Medicine degree from McGill University and a PhD from the University of Minnesota.
MLA Gerrad’s initial involvement in politics began during Lester B. Pearson’s time as Prime Minister. He was a Member of Federal Parliament from 1993 to 1997 and led the Manitoba Liberals from 1998 until 2013.
He has represented River Heights in the Manitoba Legislature since 1999.
B’nai Brith is proud to have a distinguished Canadian such as MLA Gerrard supporting Jewish Heritage Month. We thank him both for his recognition of Jewish Heritage Month and for his strong support of the motion in the Manitoba Legislature to adopt the IHRA definition on antisemitism.
