Event #1: Fireside Chat with David Matas
Canada’s exciting new legal network is holding its first virtual event on Monday, Feb. 22 at 8:00 PM EST – and we’d love to see you there!
The event will feature none other than the group’s namesake himself, David Matas. David is B’nai Brith Canada’s Senior Legal Counsel and one of the most prominent and accomplished human-rights lawyers in the country. David will be speaking about his history with B’nai Brith, the importance of – and story behind – our legal interventions, and what this group can strive to accomplish.
This first Matas Society event is open to the public, so you don’t have to be a lawyer to attend.

Join us in marking Black History Month by learning about the fascinating and highly inspiring history of the relationship between the Black and Jewish communities during the 20th century – particularly in Canada during the Civil Rights era.
The event will reflect on experiences of the past, and on how our communities can help each other’s present and future fights for human rights and against hatred. The event will also be a tribute to the great achievements of Black Canadians in every sector of our society.
