Since 1948, more than 850,000 Jews have left Arab countries and Iran. Jewish communities of more than 2,500 years old were uprooted, and their members were forced to flee with only a few belongings. They were forced to leave their properties behind. There has never been any redress or compensation to the Jewish people or their families.

SPEAKERS:
Yolanda Papini-Pollock – Yolanda’s mother was born in Homs, Libya. After losing her father in an Allied bombardment, the family managed to survive the German occupation during the Second World War. After the war, pogroms by the Libyan population caused all Libyan Jews to leave.
Rabbi Yosef Benarroch – Born in Tangiers, Morocco, Rabbi Benarroch came to Canada in the 1960s as a young boy together with his parents and siblings.
Elham Yaghoubian – Born in Iran, Elham published her first novel at sixteen. After the pro-democracy movement in 1999, she left Iran. Now living in the US, she continues to fight on behalf of human rights and against antisemitism and Holocaust denial by the Iranian regime.

CONFÉRENCIERS:
Yolanda Papini-Pollock – La mère de Yolanda est née à Homs, en Libye. Après avoir perdu son père dans un bombardement allié, la famille a réussi à survivre à l’occupation allemande pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Après la guerre, les pogroms de la population libyenne ont provoqué le départ de tous les Juifs libyens.
Rabbi Yosef Benarroch – Né à Tanger, au Maroc, le rabbin Benarroch est arrivé au Canada dans les années 1960 avec ses parents et ses frères et sœurs.
Elham Yaghoubian – Née en Iran, Elham a publié son premier roman à seize ans. Après le mouvement pro-démocratique de 1999, elle a quitté l’Iran. Elle vit aujourd’hui aux États-Unis et continue de se battre au nom des droits de l’homme et contre l’antisémitisme et le négationnisme du régime iranien.
