OTTAWA – Earlier this week, Canada’s capital city declared yesterday, Dec. 8, 2025, “B’nai Brith of Canada Foundation Day,” in honour of our organization’s critical work throughout the country during the past 150 years.
The proclamation highlights the B’nai Brith of Canada Foundation’s role supporting humanitarian causes and charitable efforts. These include human rights advocacy, combating antisemitism and other forms of hate, programs providing food assistance for the underserved, clothing drives, affordable housing projects, sports leagues, and more – all throughout Canada.
“We are proud of our legacy of helping others and serving the community,” said Simon Wolle, B’nai Brith Canada’s Chief Executive Officer, who received the proclamation Monday from Ottawa Mayor Mark Sutcliffe. “We applaud Mayor Sutcliffe for standing up for his Jewish constituents and confronting hate in his city. Elected officials throughout Canada should follow his lead, as well as that of Kingston Mayor Bryan Paterson, who has also demonstrated moral clarity and sincere support for his city’s Jewish residents.
“Who will be next to take a public stand and offer Canadians the leadership they need and deserve?”
As the B’nai Brith of Canada Foundation marks 150 years of serving Jewish Canadians, we look forward to continuing to strengthen our communities through our various initiatives and programs.
