Sept. 20, 2018

TORONTO – B’nai Brith Canada is excited to celebrate the notable 50th anniversary of the Jewish cooking bible, Second Helpings, Please! And we’ll celebrate it with a kosher epicurean event like no other.

On Wednesday, Nov. 21, at the state-of-the-art Universal Eventspace in Vaughan, Ont., leading chefs will come together for Second Helpings…Encore!, to celebrate one of the most popular and long-standing cookbooks spanning generations.

During this delectable night of food and drink, the evening will feature a chef-curated, eight-course tasting menu with wine pairings, inspired by some of the original favourites from Second Helpings, Please! Prepared in an open kitchen ‘stadium’, while cookbook editor Norene Gilletz moderates the flurry of activity, this fabulous evening is set to be every foodie’s dream come true.

Second Helpings…Encore! is definitely not your run-of-the-mill rubber chicken gala dinner. Throughout the evening, Norene will be in conversation with the internationally renowned chefs while they prepare elegant dishes utilizing their own creative flair. Fortunate guests will have the exclusive first taste of what modern day Jewish cooking is all about.

Norene will also provide historical overviews and insight to the remarkable stories of the origins of the cookbook and selected recipes. Some initial contributors from Montreal’s Mount Sinai Chapter of B’nai Brith Women, where the cookbook was initially developed and created, will be in attendance to share their wonderful food memories with the esteemed guests.

VIP Tables are $15,000, Standard Tables are $10,000 and single tickets, $1,500 and $1,000. Tax receipts will be provided. Various levels of sponsorships are available.

Internationally respected, national in scope, yet local in impact, B’nai Brith Canada is the grassroots voice of the Jewish community, and the country’s oldest independent and self-funded national Jewish organization. Through the League for Human Rights, B’nai Brith advocates for issues spanning the civil, political, religious and cultural sectors within the Jewish community and beyond.
