OTTAWA – B’nai Brith Canada, this morning, is releasing a joint statement urging the Federal Government to strengthen and pass Bill C-9, its proposed Combatting Hate Act.

“Words of condemnation are not enough,” the joint statement says. “Only decisive action will safeguard Canadians.”

The statement was co-signed by B’nai Brith Canada, the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA), the Canadian Friends Of Simon Wiesenthal Center For Holocaust Studies (FSWC), Alliance of Canadians Combatting Antisemitism (ALCCA), and Canadian Women Against Antisemitism (CWAA).

“Our Government cannot lose sight of what is at stake,” said Simon Wolle, B’nai Brith Canada’s Chief Executive Officer. “As lawmakers return to Parliament next week, it is vital for the security of all Canadians, including Jewish Canadians, that a strong Bill C-9 be prioritized and enacted without delay.”
