Call for Task Force on National Antisemitism Crises – Open Letter

B’nai Brith Canada has sent an urgent open letter to federal leaders, demanding immediate action to confront the escalating crisis of antisemitism in our country.

This past April, our 2024 Annual Audit of Antisemitic Incidents revealed a staggering 124% increase in antisemitism since 2022. That distressing data foreshadowed the danger we were in—and the tide of hate has now reached new, unimaginable heights.

Recent violent and increasingly public attacks, including a Jewish father beaten in front of his children in Montreal and a Jewish woman stabbed in an Ottawa grocery store, expose the horrifying reality Canada’s Jewish community continues to endure.

This moment is critical. With Parliament set to resume next week, we are calling on the federal government to formally recognize the national crisis of antisemitism and establish a federal task force to develop a coordinated, nationwide response.

There is no more time for empty platitudes or piecemeal measures.

Canada must act to address this surge of hate and protect its communities—before more lives are shattered.
