Remembering AMIA

More than 27 years have elapsed since the AMIA bombing in Buenos Aires which cost the lives of 85 members of the Jewish community. To commemorate this event, B’nai Brith served as host to a panel. Survivors and their families shared continue to struggle with the impact of the trauma. A South American representative of B’nai Brith spoke about the bombing and the unwillingness of the Argentinian government to bring the culprits to justice caused a seismic shift in Jewish security on that continent. Matthew Levitt sketched a grim picture of Iran and Hezbollah’s continued attempts at perpetrating terrorist acts outside the Middle East.
