Press Release: CIJA and B’nai Brith Commend Ontario’s Leaders for Strengthening Ties with Israel, Speaking out Against BDS

Jerusalem—In response to Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne’s denunciation of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement targeting Israel, and the “Standing Up Against Anti-Semitism in Ontario Act” introduced by Ontario MPPs Tim Hudak and Mike Colle, B’nai Brith Canada and the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA) issued the following statements:

“We applaud Premier Wynne’s unequivocal opposition to the BDS movement and her resolute commitment to combat antisemitism. Premier Wynne is backing her words with deeds, leading a business mission to Israel that has so far confirmed more than $120 million in bilateral agreements.” – Joel Reitman, Co-Chair of CIJA Toronto

“Premier Wynne is demonstrating great leadership by strengthening bilateral cooperation between Israel and Ontario to their mutual benefit, and she has ensured the toxic BDS agenda will be recognized as the extremist dogma it is. We thank the Premier, Tim Hudak and Mike Colle for their longstanding commitment to fighting antisemitism in Ontario in whatever form it assumes.” – Michael Mostyn, CEO of B’nai Brith Canada

“The multi-party denunciations of BDS and the significant growth of bilateral ties between the Province of Ontario and the State of Israel over the last  few days alone, clearly demonstrate a broad, cross-partisan consensus in Ontario. Premier Wynne, Tim Hudak, and Mike Colle should all be commended for the friendship they have continually shown the Jewish community in Ontario and the State of Israel.” – Berl Nadler, Co-Chair CIJA Toronto
