Re: “‘From the river to the sea’ hardly controversial, writes Point Claire, Que., reader,” (The Hill Times, Jan. 8, 2024, letter to the
editor).
There is no excuse for using rhetoric that normalizes political violence and makes Jews feel unsafe in their own homes. The slogan promotes the violent expulsion of Jews from their ancestral homeland between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea. It is nothing less than a call for genocide, and the phrase has been popularized by terrorist groups such as Hamas and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine.
