WASHINGTON, D.C – B’nai Brith Canada is urging the Government to take immediate action to curb radical incitement in our country after a terrorist shot two Israeli embassy staffers in the U.S. capital last night.

The couple, shot as as they exited a Jewish museum, had been participating in an event for young Jewish diplomats and foreign-policy professionals.

As police arrested the suspect hours after the attack, he chanted “Free Palestine.”

“This is what happens when hate is allowed to flourish,” B’nai Brith Canada wrote on X. “This wasn’t just an attack on two innocent people. It was the bloody consequence of a culture that has normalized antisemitic hatred under the banner of activism.”

Earlier today, Prime Minister Mark Carney condemned the terrorist attack, doubled down on his pledge to introduce bubble legislation, and increased funding for the Canada Community Security Program.

“Pledging additional resources for securing our communities is insufficient to combat the incitement emboldening radical extremists,” said Richard Robertson, B’nai Brith Canada’s Director of Research and Advocacy. “Our leaders need to ensure there are consequences for those who incite, radicalize and justify violence.”
