Special Community Briefing: Canadian Druze and Iranian Voices Against Global Persecution
Registration is closed, watch here Tuesday, August 5, 2025, 7:00 PM
As human rights abuses intensify against the Druze community in Syria and Iranian citizens in Iran, these struggles resonate far beyond the region — deeply affecting diaspora communities here in Canada.
This Special Community Briefing aims to shed light on the ongoing persecution faced by these communities and explore how these injustices impact the Canadian diaspora emotionally, culturally, and politically.
Join us for a compelling discussion featuring two respected leaders from the Druze and Iranian communities in Canada:
Kiumars (Kiu) Rezvanifar is a veteran broadcaster, producer, filmmaker, and publisher committed to multicultural media and community advocacy in Canada. He serves as President of the Canadian Ethnic Media Association (CEMA) and founded the Iranian Canadian Cultural Fellowship (ICCF). Kiu has produced award-winning documentaries, served on multiple boards, and advised law enforcement and government agencies. His dedication to promoting cultural understanding and human rights has earned him numerous honors, including the King Charles III Coronation Medal in 2025.
Hon. Jamal Sehnawi is a distinguished advisor to the Supreme Druze Council and a prominent member of the Canadian Druze Society. An expert in Druze heritage and intercultural integration, Jamal is dedicated to supporting disadvantaged groups, including women, children, and minorities. Since 2002, he has contributed his expertise across both public and private sectors, including fields such as nuclear energy, renewable energy, oil and gas, security, health, and urban development.
