As B’nai Brith Canada prepares for construction to begin this September on Chateau B’nai Brith, a 129-unit subsidized seniors’ residence to be located in Cote-Saint-Luc, it is thrilled to announce that its immediate past-president, Eric Bissell, and his family, are donating $1-million to the project.

B’nai Brith Canada is extremely grateful to the Bissells.

“With the current crisis in affordable housing for seniors in Montreal, this is a very important community initiative that will soon be home to 141 people and will serve the community for generations,” Eric Bissell said. “We are very pleased that the Governments of Quebec and Canada are joining members of the community in financially supporting this project.”

“This is exemplary in terms of the Bissell leadership in the community,” said Ted Greenfield, past-president of B’nai Brith Canada and current Chair of its Quebec Board. “The Bissell family’s initiative will no doubt encourage others in the community to support the project, which is for the welfare of the entire community.”

The goal of Chateau B’nai Brith is to provide an affordable, state-of-the-art and modern autonomous residency for seniors. It is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2017.

“This pledge is testament to B’nai Brith and the work it strives to achieve every day,” said Michael Mostyn, CEO of B’nai Brith Canada. “Eric’s generosity is a tremendous inspiration and triumph for the entire Jewish community.”
