WINNIPEG – With wildfires decimating swathes of the Western prairies, B’nai Brith Canada is launching an important initiative to support evacuees fleeing their homes.
“What is happening in the prairies is devastating,” said Aviva Tabac, B’nai Brith Canada’s Community Engagement Manager for Winnipeg. “Our organization wants to support evacuees in any way that it can. We are specifically looking for items such as clothing for all ages, toiletries and hygiene items, blankets and bedding, pet food.”
B’nai Brith Canada will be collecting donations of essential supplies at its Kavod Thrift Store (531 Notre Dame Ave., Winnipeg). The store will, in addition, be operating at extended hours – from 9am to 6pm, on Sun., June 1.
The store will be closed Mon., June 2 and Tues., June 3 for the Jewish holiday of Shavuot. Reception of donations will resume the following Wednesday through Friday from 9am to 5pm.
