OTTAWA – B’nai Brith Canada strongly condemns the cowardly act of antisemitic vandalism that defaced the National Holocaust Monument Sunday.

“This attack on the sanctity of the Holocaust monument is deplorable and those responsible must be held accountable,” said Richard Robertson, B’nai Brith Canada’s Director of Research and Advocacy. “Incidents such as this only serve to further marginalize the Jewish community and make Jews feel unwelcome in this country.

“As a society, we must stand up and reject the incitement and division that are fomenting the spread of this hatred.”

B’nai Brith Canada has been one of the National Holocaust Monument’s supporting partners since it opened in 2017. Each year, our organization participates in Yom Ha-Shoah commemorations at the site, together with other civil-society groups and local, municipal, and federal-government officials.
