OTTAWA – An Ontario court has sentenced a convicted neo-Nazi to 10 years behind bars, after a sentencing hearing that included testimony from B’nai Brith Canada about the perpetrator’s impact on the Jewish community.

“This is a strong sentence and should serve as a deterrent to future would-be extremists,” said Richard Robertson, B’nai Brith Canada’s Director of Research and Advocacy. “We applaud the police and Crown for their respective roles in bringing this hatemonger to justice.”

Under the online handle “Dark Foreigner,” Patrick Gordon MacDonald, 27, helped create and spread violent, antisemitic propaganda videos for the Atomwaffen Division, a neo-Nazi group that Canada lists as a terrorist entity. Three videos, all filmed in Ontario or Quebec, are linked to MacDonald. In one, armed, masked men can be seen in a wooded area, uttering anti-Jewish slurs, with the caption “stay tuned, shooters.”

In April, 2025, the Ottawa Superior Court found MacDonald guilty on charges of participating in terrorist activity, facilitating terrorist activity, and inciting hate against Jews.

“Online radicalization does not only impact those who become indoctrinated,” Robertson said. “In this instance, MacDonald’s hateful disseminations were used to recruit Canadians to join a violent terrorist group. Allowing such content to proliferate unfettered on our online platforms endangers the lives of all Canadians and undermines Canada’s national security.”
