Rev. Majed El Shafie is a human rights advocate and founder of One Free World International (OFWI), a leading organization advocating for religious minorities globally and which has 28 branches around the world. His human rights journey started in his native Egypt which he was forced to flee after he was severely tortured and sentenced to death for his conversion from Islam to Christianity and for bringing awareness to human rights violations related to religious persecution. He escaped Egypt on a jet ski to Eilat, Israel and has never forgotten how Israel saved his life and gave him the opportunity to taste freedom. After the October 7th massacre, Majed felt compelled to give back to Israel and to the global Jewish community who had been impacted by the atrocities committed on that day. With a yearning to do something that would bear testament to the pain and to the hope, Majed travelled to Israel to meet with some of the families of the murdered. He also met with hostages and visited the kibbutzim which were attacked. His visit also included meeting with soldiers of the Israeli Defence Force. These encounters have been compiled into an honest report and riveting documentary. Join Michael Mostyn and Majed El Shafie for a viewing of the trailer of his documentary and a fireside chat reflecting on one of the most historical and significant moments in our time! This conversation will be followed by a Q & A with attendees.
