B’nai Brith Canada is proud to announce that over 70 Canadian entities, representing provinces, municipalities, school boards and community organizations, have responded to our invitation to formally recognize May as Jewish Heritage Month for 2023.
In addition to many renewed proclamations from 2022, B’nai Brith received well over 50 proclamations from new supporters this year.
In 2018, Parliament designated the month of May as Jewish heritage month to recognize the important contributions that Jewish Canadians have made to Canada’s social, economic, political and cultural fabric.
The Jewish community has a long and proud history in Canada and has contributed greatly to the wellbeing, growth and prosperity of the country despite facing widespread systemic barriers of discrimination.
In 2022, B’nai Brith Canada launched an initiative to draw support for Jewish Heritage Month, which led to the highest uptake in the five years since its official declaration in 2018.
