Job Description – Writers/Researchers, Communications Department

• Independent sourcing and identification of potential communications for publication through Communications Department
• Following up with community partners to develop communications ideas with minimal oversight
• Utilizing existing contacts and sources to evaluate information and communications ideas
• Writing content for Communications Department publications, including: press releases, media advisories, blog posts, social media posts, op-eds
• Writing content for speeches
• Editing and proof-reading content, where applicable
• Dealing periodically with media
• Working closely with Advocacy (League for Human Rights) department to identify action steps included in communications pieces
• Participating in planning meetings
• Helping track all relevant stories in which B’nai Brith Canada is mentioned
• Research advocacy action and communication items, as assigned
• Testing and troubleshooting website features and functions
• Helping monitor and respond to emails to departmental email inbox ([email protected])

• Reports directly to Director of Communications
• Submission of communication ideas for consideration
• In conjunction with social media co-ordinator, provide social media backup and assist in updating website and social media
• Assist in set-up and development of online publication platforms
