OTTAWA – B’nai Brith Canada is excited to invite you to a musical gathering like no other.

Exhibit: The Power of Free Spirit will be an informative and musical event highlighting the rescue of Bulgarian Jews during the Holocaust.

Please join us on Thursday, October 18 at the Shenkman Arts Centre for a reception and presentation at 6 p.m. Admission is free. Exhibition panels will display photographs, facsimiles and text that follow how events developed in Bulgaria during the Shoah – on the international stage, the position of the authorities and the response of the Bulgarian public.

The concert portion of the evening, entitled Hebrew Melody, will feature musical performers Ralitsa Tcholakova (violin), Amelie Langlois (piano), Floralove Katz (vocals) and Natasha Guiller (piano) and commence at 7:30 p.m.

Works by classical Jewish composers as well as Yiddish songs for hope, aspiration and peace will be performed.

Concert tickets are $15.

Exhibit: The Power of Free Spirit is co-organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria and ARS Universalis with the support of ARTicipate and in collaboration with B’nai Brith, CIJA, the Jewish Federation of Ottawa, the Wallenberg Citation Initiative and the Shenkman Arts Centre.
