JEWISH HERITAGE MONTH PARTNER: York Centre (Toronto District)
A lifelong resident of Toronto, Councilor Pasternak has represented his community of York Centre since 2010.
Councilor Pasternak was duly re-elected in 2014, 2018 and 2022. Before his tenure on City Council, he served as a Toronto District School Board (TDSB) trustee from 2006 to 2010.
During his time on the TDSB, he played an important role in expanding provisions for special education and was instrumental in establishing Toronto’s only Africentric Alternative School.
Councilor Pasternak holds degrees from the London School of Economics, Western University and York University.
Throughout his mandate, Councilor Pasternak has been a vocal advocate for the Jewish community and a strong voice against antisemitism.

Résident de Toronto depuis toujours, le conseiller Pasternak représente sa communauté de Centre York depuis 2010.
Il a été dûment réélu en 2014, 2018 et 2022. Avant de siéger au conseil municipal, il a été conseiller scolaire du Conseil scolaire du district de Toronto (CSDT) de 2006 à 2010.
Pendant son mandat au CSDT, il a joué un rôle important dans l’élargissement des dispositions relatives à l’éducation spéciale et a contribué à la création de la seule école alternative africaine de Toronto.
Le conseiller Pasternak est diplômé de l’École d’économie de Londres, de l’Université Western et de l’Université York.
Tout au long de son mandat, le conseiller Pasternak a été un ardent défenseur de la communauté juive et une voix forte contre l’antisémitisme.
B’nai Brith exprime sa sincère gratitude au conseiller Pasternak pour sa défense énergique de la communauté juive et son soutien au Mois du patrimoine juif en mai 2023. Nous apprécions grandement sa voix au sein du conseil municipal, car il utilise constamment sa plateforme pour condamner et combattre l’antisémitisme.
