For more than 30 years, B’nai Brith members and donors have ensured that those less fortunate in the community have the ability to celebrate the holidays. This important community initiative is done by a dedicated team of volunteers who supervise the packaging and delivery of holiday food baskets. Organized at Rosh Hashanah and Passover in Montreal, and at Hanukkah and Purim in Toronto, these baskets contain nutritious food, festive treats and items to help celebrate the holiday, such as a menorah and all the candles. This year, B'nai Brith hopes to deliver over 1,000 Hanukkah baskets to needy individuals in our community, making a real difference in the lives of those less fortunate.
If you would like to help, please consider lending your time or resources in one of the following ways:
- Discounts or donations for bulk food items to be included in the baskets
- Assistance in packing baskets
- Delivering the baskets around the city
- Becoming a member of our volunteer organizational committee, for this or successive basket programs (e.g., Purim)
Everyone is welcome, and we are in need of volunteers with all levels of time commitment. It's a great way for students to complete community service hours, for families to experience the satisfaction of volunteering together, and for seniors to engage with our community.
