Demand for the Immediate Cancellation of Kneecap’s Hateful Canadian Performances

I am writing to you to voice concern over your appalling decision to host the extremist group Kneecap at Canadian venues.

Kneecap is not a controversial act. They are radical agitators who have repeatedly glorified terrorism, incited hatred, and weaponized their performances to glorify violence, incite hatred, and promote division.

In April 2024, in a public celebration of terrorism, one of Kneecap’s members appeared on stage in London wrapped in a Hezbollah flag. Hezbollah is a listed terrorist organization responsible for the murder of civilians, including Canadians.

That same individual is currently under investigation in the United Kingdom for engaging in conduct that appears to have violated the nation’s terrorism legislation.

At international festivals including Coachella and Glastonbury, Kneecap projected the words “F*** Israel / Free Palestine” and led thousands in chanting the same. Their deplorable conduct has targeted Jews globally and is responsible for exacerbating the caustic climate that is jeopardizing the well-being of Canadians.

Canada is facing a crisis of hate, with record levels of violence, intimidation, and vandalism. For you to knowingly welcome and profit from a group that fuels this hatred is beyond irresponsible, it is morally indefensible. It is time for you to stand with Canadians across the country who are voicing their concerns over Kneecap’s upcoming performances.

Live Nation Canada, Live Nation Entertainment, Liberty Media, the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, Drake, The MRG Group, History Toronto, and Vogue Theatre Vancouver have a choice: either act as stewards of safe, inclusive spaces, or serve as hosts to those who promote terrorism and propagate hate.

You are not bystanders. By knowingly proceeding with these events, you become enablers, giving a national platform to those who trample on Canadian values.

Kneecap n’est pas un simplement spectacle controversé. Il s’agit d’agitateurs radicaux qui ont à maintes reprises glorifié le terrorisme, incité à la haine et utilisé leurs performances pour glorifier la violence, inciter à la haine et promouvoir la division.

En avril 2024, lors d’une célébration publique du terrorisme, l’un des membres de Kneecap est apparu sur scène à Londres enveloppé dans un drapeau du Hezbollah. Le Hezbollah est une organisation terroriste listée responsable du meurtre de civils, y compris de Canadiens.

Ce même individu fait actuellement l’objet d’une enquête au Royaume-Uni pour avoir eu un comportement qui semble avoir violé la législation nationale sur le terrorisme.

Lors de festivals internationaux tels que Coachella et Glastonbury, Kneecap a projeté les mots « F*** Israel / Free Palestine » et a incité des milliers de personnes à scander les mêmes propos. Leur comportement déplorable a ciblé les juifs dans le monde entier et est responsable de l’exacerbation du climat caustique qui compromet le bien-être des Canadiens.

Le Canada est confronté à une crise de la haine, avec des niveaux records de violence, d’intimidation et de vandalisme. Accueillir en toute connaissance de cause un groupe qui alimente cette haine et d’en tirer profit n’est pas seulement irresponsable, c’est moralement indéfendable. Il est temps que vous vous joigniez aux Canadiens de partout au pays qui expriment leurs inquiétudes au sujet des prochains spectacles de Kneecap.

Live Nation Canada, Live Nation Entertainment, Liberty Media, the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, Drake, The MRG Group, History Toronto et Vogue Theatre Vancouver ont un choix à faire : soit agir en tant que gardiens d’espaces sécuritaires et inclusifs, soit servir d’hôtes à ceux qui promeuvent le terrorisme et propagent la haine.

Vous n’êtes pas des spectateurs. En organisant ces événements en toute connaissance de cause, vous devenez des complices, offrant une tribune nationale à ceux qui bafouent les valeurs canadiennes.
