B’nai Brith Canada calls on OISE to take immediate action

Toronto, August 12, 2002

For Immediate Release

Toronto, August 12, 2002 — A resolution attacking Israel for atrocities initiated by Professor Razack of OISE, part of the University of Toronto, continues to circulate and has been posted on the internet. Despite assurances by the then acting dean of OISE, the petition, first released in April 2002, continues to circulate under circumstances that give the impression that the faculty supports the initiative.

In a letter addressed to the acting Dean of OISE, Rochelle Wilner, President and Frank Dimant, Executive Vice President of B’nai Brith Canada state: “The resolution is one-sided and contains much misinformation, hardly worthy of your institution and specifically a branch of your institution claiming to represent ‘Anti-Racism Studies’. We request that you use your good office to stop this misinformation campaign against Israel. It clearly goes beyond fair-minded academic dialogue.”
