B’NAI BRITH CANADA CONDEMNS TERRORIST OUTRAGE IN TEL AVIV

February 14, 2001

For Immediate Release

Toronto, February 14, 2001.Following the latest terrorist attack in Tel Aviv, B’nai Brith Canada has called upon Canada and the international community to condemn terrorism.

Dr. Lawrence Hart, President of B’nai Brith Canada, said, “The increase in terrorist attacks and the perpetuation of violence against Israelis can not be the backdrop for peace negotiations in the Middle East. Arafat has proven himself either inept or unwilling to stop the violence he himself unleashed last fall.”

Frank Dimant, Executive Vice President of B’nai Brith Canada, added, “Terrorist attacks and violence have been perpetrated against Israelis under both Likud and Labour governments. The United Nations, which regularly condemns Israel for actions taken in defence of its citizens, should speak out against such terrorist outrages which threaten the peace and security of the region.”
