The call for submissions has begun for the 2001 Annual Media Human Rights Awards, sponsored by the League for Human Rights of B’nai Brith Canada. The awards, now in their 26th year, are designed to recognize and encourage the Canadian media for effective and responsible work that sensitizes the public to human rights problems, issues and violations in Canada.
There are 9 categories: Advertising, Film, Magazine, Music, Newspapers, Public Service Announcements, Radio, Television and World Wide Web. Materials submitted must have been produced, published or broadcast between January 1, 2000 and December 31, 2000.
Finalists in each category will be notified and invited to attend the Media Human Rights Award Gala Ceremony to be held on the evening of March 19, 2001 at the Jane Mallet Theatre at the St. Lawrence Centre for The Arts in Toronto.
