B'NAI BRITH CANADA WELCOMES NEW ISRAELI AMBASSADOR

Toronto, October 17, 1996...B'nai Brith Canada offers its congratulations and warm welcome to David Sultan, the newly appointed Ambassador of Israel to Canada.

In a letter to the Ambassador on the occasion of the presentation of his credentials to the Governor General, Lyle Smordin, President of B'nai Brith Canada, wrote: “...I wish to add my official congratulations on your appointment and hope that I will meet you in the very near future to reconfirm our organization's support (for) the continued existence of the State of Israel...”

Born in Cairo, Sultan arrived in Israel in 1949 at the age of 11. He returned to Egypt in 1983 where he was the Deputy Head of the Israeli Mission until 1985. Sultan served as Israel's Ambassador to Egypt from 1992 until 1996.
