B'NAI BRITH CANADA CHEERS THE SENTENCING OF GARY "GERHARD" LAUCK, AMERICAN NEO-NAZI IN GERMANY

For Immediate Release

Toronto, August 22, 1996... B'nai Brith Canada is pleased that Gary Lauck was sentenced to four years in prison by a German court for the charge of inciting racial hatred. Lauck, a notorious Hitler aper and admirer, is the leader of NSDAP-AO (National Sozialistische Deutsche Arbeiter Partei - Auslands Organization -- National Socialist German Workers Party - Foreign Organization). His organization publishes reams of spurious anti-semitic, racist and anti-immigrant propaganda from Lauck's hometown of Lincoln, Nebraska. Millions of copies of Lauck's publications have been illegally brought into Germany, which has strengthened the neo-Nazi movement in that country.

Executive Vice-President of B'nai Brith Canada, Frank Dimant, released the following statement: “The German courts today have sent a warning to neo-Nazi gangs running amok around Europe who assume safe haven in Germany and a clear message to the international community. Germany will not tolerate racism and they will not tolerate the violence that is fueled by racial hatred. This demonstrates to the international community that Germany continues to strive toward the tenets of democracy that advocate freedom from persecution and freedom from bias and prejudice.”

“As Canadians, we are saddened that Holocaust revisionism and denial remains existent and unchecked in our country. We trust that the Canadian and Ontario governments will move forward in charging those who propagate hatred, anti-semitism and racism and who disseminate holocaust denial and revisionist propaganda in our country.”
