For Immediate Release
Toronto, October 24, 2003 Bnai Brith today urged Canadas Jewish community to be vigilant in the wake of the current security alert over El Al flights scheduled to land at Torontos Pearson International Airport. The community is often warned to be on the alert whenever there are security threats directed against Israeli interests abroad.
We are in constant contact with police and intelligence services, as well as airport and airline officials, and have confidence in their ability to address these security concerns, said Rochelle Wilner, National President of Bnai Brith Canada. Nothing can take the place of prudence, however, so we would urge our community to continue to be vigilant in the area of security.
Bnai Brith has been warning for some time now that Canada, and particularly Canadas Jewish community, is not immune to this sort of threat, added Frank Dimant, Executive Vice President. Our 24/7 Hotline 1 800 892 BNAI (2624) continues to be available for the community to report any suspicious incidents or intelligence tips, which will be immediately forwarded to the relevant authorities.
