PALESTINIAN TERRORIST BOMBING STIRS OUTRAGE IN CANADIAN JEWISH COMMUNITY

Toronto, August 19, 2003

For Immediate Release

Toronto, August 19, 2003… B’nai Brith Canada today condemned yet another suicide bombing against Israeli civilians in the streets of Jerusalem, following on the heels of the bombing of the UN Headquarters in Baghdad.

Rochelle Wilner, National President of B’nai Brith Canada, stated: “Jews are being slaughtered once again, even as we are being asked to believe that the Palestinian leadership is committed to moving towards peace. What happened to its commitment under the Road Map to disarm and dismantle the terrorist networks? We cannot continually be expected to sacrifice our people on the altar of so-called Road Maps.”

Frank Dimant, Executive Vice President, who is currently in Israel, commented: “It’s obvious that in spite of all the hype, the so-called ceasefire that the Palestinians claim to have accepted is a complete sham on their part. We once again call on the Canadian government, as we did just last week, to demand that the Palestinian leadership immediately act on its commitments to end the terror.”
