Hamas Atrocity Kills Many Civilians in Jerusalem

“Canada must stand shoulder to shoulder with Israel in the battle against terrorism”

Toronto, June 11, 2003

For Immediate Release

In yet another attack on civilians in Israel, a suicide bomber has blown himself up on a Jerusalem bus, killing at least 16 and injuring dozens more. This attack was not a targeted killing of a terrorist leader who has directed murders and actively rejected any moves towards peace. This was the wanton destruction of civilian life in furtherance of genocidal goals.

Rochelle Wilner, President of B’nai Brith Canada, commented “Hamas may call this murderous assault revenge. But Hamas’ stated goals are not only the destruction of the State of Israel, but also the extermination of Jews everywhere. At least 15 people were killed by Hamas in their terrorist pursuit of the goals of Auschwitz and Treblinka. Just as Canadians fought the Nazi agenda 60 years ago, honourable people must now support Israel’s war against those who would see Hitler’s goals achieved.”

Frank Dimant, Executive Vice President, added “Abdel Aziz Rantisi and his co-founders of Hamas envisioned a Middle East free of Jews. They enshrined those ideals in the covenant that animates their racist views. Neither today’s atrocity nor any other attack will lessen the resolve of the Jewish people to live in peace and security in their aboriginal lands. Canada must stand shoulder to shoulder with Israel in the battle against terrorism.”
