For Immediate Release
Ottawa, May 2, 2003 Bnai Brith Canada today applauded the governments decision to officially declare Ernst Zundel a national security threat and initiate deportation proceedings.
This is a victory for all Canadians, said Rochelle Wilner, President of Bnai Brith Canada. It sends a clear message that we will no longer tolerate anyone coming to this country and working to undermine its social fabric by inciting hatred and fomenting strife and discord. We commend CSIS for its integrity and perseverance on this file.
Its also a complete vindication of our position, added Frank Dimant, Executive Vice President of Bnai Brith Canada. We said right from the start that this was a national security issue, and that Zundels claim made a mockery of our refugee protection system. We hope that the federal court review will not be used as an opportunity to drag this process out still further, and that Zundels removal will be expedited immediately thereafter.
