B’nai Brith Canada welcomes FSIN decision

Ottawa, February 20, 2003

For Immediate Release

B’nai Brith Canada welcomes the decision by the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations to refuse the request of David Ahenakew for re-instatement to the FSIN Senate.

National President Rochelle Wilner stated: “The FSIN has reaffirmed that David Ahenakew has no place in the leadership of a community struggling to fight racism in Canada. Chief Perry Bellegarde made it clear in his meeting with us that hatred will never be countenanced among his peers or in the larger Aboriginal community. We continue to work cooperatively with First Nations leadership across Canada and look forward to our joint Holocaust and Hope educators tour to Israel this summer.”
