For Immediate Release
Ottawa, February 20, 2003 Bnai Brith Canada welcomed statements made by Minister Coderre during Question Period this afternoon in the House of Commons.
Frank Dimant, Executive Vice-President, stated: We were impressed by the Ministers commitment not to allow Canadas refugee protections to be abused by an unrepentant hate monger like Ernst Zundel.
We are confident that the Minister will stand firm on this issue. Meanwhile, should the battle against Zundel have to begin again in Canada, as the senior human rights organization in the Jewish community, we will be ready. Weve had intervenor status in this struggle in the past and, if necessary, well go that route again. Meanwhile, we are working closely with the Human Rights Commission to prepare for all eventualities.
