Investigation Launched against Teacher Who Headlined Al-Quds Rally – B’nai Brith Canada

A teacher from the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board, who headlined the Toronto al-Quds hate-rally in early July, is being investigated following a complaint from B’nai Brith Canada. Nadia Shoufani, who teaches at St. Catherine of Siena Separate School, was filmed glorifying terrorists and calling for violence against Israelis through ‘resistance.’

“We are greatly concerned that an individual who espouses open support for terror and praises terrorist groups is teaching Canadian youth,” said Michael Mostyn, Chief Executive Officer of B’nai Brith Canada. “Al-Quds Day is an international event founded and sponsored by the despotic Iranian regime. Speakers at the event have previously called for Israelis to be shot, and the State of Israel to be ‘wiped off the map’.”

At the 2016 rally in Toronto, Ms. Shoufani stated “Palestine will be liberated… Glory to the Martyrs,” additionally praising two individuals from the listed terror group Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine,Ghassan Kanafani and Georges Ibrahim Abdallah.

Shoufani also condemned Israel for extrajudicially “executing” Muhammad Tarayah, who was neutralized by Israeli security forces after he murdered a 13-year-old Israeli girl in her sleep. Moreover, Shoufani has made numerous troubling comments and posts on her Facebook page, celebrating convicted terrorist Samir Kuntar as a “hero among heroes”.

“Anyone publicly supporting violence and terrorism is not fit to be an educator for our vulnerable youth,” Mostyn added. “We are pleased that this matter is being taken seriously by the appropriate authorities and we will update the community as more information becomes available to us.”
