JULIEN BAUER is Professor of Political Science, Université du Québec à Montréal and Director of the Module of Political Science. He is the author of Les minorités au Québec, Les juifs hassidiques, Politique et religion, and Le système politique canadien. He is currently doing research on the role of the state, religion and politics, and minorities.
MICHAEL BROWN is Professor of Humanities and Hebrew at York University and Director of its Centre for Jewish Studies. He has written extensively about Canadian Jewry. His works include Jew or Juif? Jews, French Canadians and Anglo-Canadians, 1759-1914 and A Guide to the Study of Jewish Civilization in Canadian Universities.
RINA COHEN is Professor of Sociology at York University and author of numerous articles and chapters on immigration issues. Her work has been published in journals such as Canadian Women's Studies, Qualitative Sociology, Women and Environments, and Canadian Ethnic Studies. Her research on Israeli immigrants in Canada has been published in Diaspora, Jewish Journal of Sociology, and International Migration.
DAVID GOLDBERG is Director of Research at the Canada-Israel Committee. He previously taught Political Science and International Relations at York University, held professional appointments with the Foundation for Middle East Studies and Canadian Professors for Peace in the Middle East, and was publisher of Middle East Focus. He is the author of The Domestic Battleground: Canada and the Arab-Israeli Conflict.
NORMA BAUMEL JOSEPH is Associate Professor in the Department of Religion at Concordia University, Director of the Women and Religion Specialization, Program Director of the doctoral program in Religion, and Research Advisor for the Hadassah International Research Institute on Jewish Women at Brandeis University. Her teaching and research areas include Women and Judaism, Jewish Law and Ethics, and Women and Religion.
DAVID MATAS is a noted human rights lawyer. A former President of the Canadian Council of Refugees, he is active in such organizations as Amnesty International, Helsinki Watch, and the International Commission of Jurists, and is honourary legal counsel for B'nai Brith Canada. He is the co-author of Justice Delayed: Nazi War Criminals in Canada; his latest book is Bloody Words: Hate and Free Speech.
SHEVA MEDJUCK is Professor of Sociology at Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She is the author of numerous scholarly articles and books on Jews in small communities with a special focus on Atlantic Canada. She has also published extensively in the areas of human rights, hate literature, and women and caregiving. She is currently President of the Atlantic Jewish Council, serving the four Atlantic provinces.
RICHARD MENKIS is Associate Professor in Classical, Near Eastern, and Religious Studies at the University of British Columbia. He is the founding editor of Canadian Jewish Studies/Etudes juif canadiennes, and served as editor until 2000. He is currently writing a biography of Abraham de Sola and is engaged in various research projects dealing with antisemitism in Canada and the varieties of Canadian Jewish culture.
STEPHEN J. SCHEINBERG is Professor of History at Concordia University, and currently serves as Chair of the department. His research interests and publications have been in human rights labour history, Canadian-American relations, the extreme right, and antisemitism. Professor Scheinberg is the author of Employers and Reformers and contributed to and co-edited The Extreme Right: Freedom and Security at Risk.
STUART SCHOENFELD is Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Sociology, Glendon College, York University. He has written extensively on various aspects of contemporary Jewish life and has served two terms as Chair of the Network for Research in Jewish Education. Professor Schoenfeld is currently pursuing research on globalization, religion, and the environment.
JAMES TORCZYNER is Professor in the School of Social Work, McGill University. He has been directly involved in social work and human rights education, community practice, and the development of social movements. In 1975 he founded Project Genesis, a community-based organization empowering people from diverse backgrounds to advocate for social change. He recently completed an extensive study of Jewish communities in Canada.
HAROLD TROPER is Professor of Theory and Policy Studies at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, University of Toronto. Professor Troper's most recent book is The Ransomed of God: The Remarkable Story of One Woman's Role in the Rescue of Syrian Jews. He is also the co-author of several prize- winning books including None is Too Many: Canada and the Jews of Europe 1933-1948 and Immigrants: A Portrait of the Urban Experience.
GERALD TULCHINSKY is Professor of History at Queen's University, where he is also the Director of the Jewish Studies program. He is the author of a seminal two-volume work on Canadian Jewish history, Taking Root: The Origins of the Canadian Jewish Community and Branching Out: The Transformation of the Canadian Jewish Community.
HAROLD M. WALLER is Professor of Political Science at McGill University, where he has also served as the Chair of the Department of Political Science, Associate Dean (Academic) of the Faculty of Arts, and Acting Dean of Arts. He has done extensive research in the area of Jewish political life and is co-author of Maintaining Consensus: The Canadian Jewish Polity in the Postwar World, which received the 1991 National Jewish Book Award in the US.
MORTON WEINFELD is Professor of Sociology and Chair of Canadian Ethnic Studies at McGill University. He has published widely on issues relating to modern Canadian Jewish life, and is completing a book on that topic. He recently co-edited Still Moving: Recent Jewish Migration in Comparative Perspective and was also the co-editor of The Canadian Jewish Mosaic.
LORRAINE E. WEINRIB is Professor in the Faculty of Law and the Department of Political Science at the University of Toronto. She worked at the Ministry of the Attorney General of Ontario for over a decade and was Deputy Director of Constitutional Law and Policy at the time of her departure. She has published extensively on the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and the legal position of Jews under the Canadian Constitution.
