Your Excellency,

I am writing to express my deep concern over the arrests of 13 Jewish citizens of Iran, including a boy who is only 16 years old. I understand this group includes a Rabbi, religious teachers and community leaders, representing the leadership of one of the "protected minorities" of your country.

I am deeply troubled that the detainees have been denied family visits and legal representation, and that the exact details of the charges against them have not been released. As a Canadian citizen I am concerned that their arrest and prolonged detention do not conform to international standards of judicial process and human rights.

I am particularly concerned that there has been no news of their well-being during nearly three months of imprisonment, despite numerous appeals worldwide.

I implore you to intervene on their behalf to ensure their speedy release. Please forward this urgent appeal to President Mohammed Khatami.
