IRAN UPDATE 1 - (Originally titled IRAN ALERT) June, 1999

This is an urgent appeal by the Institute for International Affairs of B'nai Brith Canada on behalf of the 13 Iranian Jews arrested on allegations of espionage.

Their position is indeed precarious, with the threat of summary execution hanging over them daily. We must explore every possible avenue in an effort to get them released unharmed. We implore you to publicize their plight and to mobilize your membership to act on their behalf. Please join our campaign to contact the President of Iran, His Excellency Hojjatoleslam val Moslemin Sayed Mohammad Khatami, by telegram addressed to President Khatami, Tehran, Iran, or fax to 011 98 21 674 790 (via Foreign Affairs, ask for fax to be forwarded).

THIS IS A MATTER OF THE UTMOST URGENCY
