CIPAC’S LEADING COMMUNITY ROLE:
- To foster positive Canada-Israel relations through a progressive, activist, agenda involving all sectors of the community.
- To mobilize grassroots Canadians to express their views on Israel, the Middle East and Jewish world.
- To advocate the community’s positions to government, to media, and to the Canadian population at large.
- To initiate creative Israel-focused programming spanning the social, religious, cultural, political, and academic arenas.
Launched in January 2004 by B’nai Brith Canada, CIPAC undertook to elicit input from the community on issues affecting Canada-Israel relations, through a series of nation-wide townhall meetings. These viewpoints were then incorporated into B’nai Brith Canada’s annual submission by the Institute for International Affairs to the Department of Foreign Affairs analyzing Canada’s Middle East policy.
