Last year many of our Canadian students from right across the country, with the support and encouragement of their teachers and principals, took the time to write letters to the soldiers stationed in Afghanistan to offer words of support and encouragement. This initiative was not only successful in terms of the numbers of letters written but also on the impact these letters had on the soldiers.
Canadian troops are risking their lives in Afghanistan, which is a country that formerly provided training for terrorists to carry out war against us and our allies.
This operation carries with it a significant level of danger from a brutal enemy that does not want democracy to take hold.
B'nai Brith Canada commends the Canadian Government and the Canadian Armed Forces for undertaking this important mission. About twenty-five hundred (2500) of our finest men and women are currently deployed in Afghanistan, away from their families in very extreme and dangerous conditions.
B'nai Brith Canada is proud to launch a campaign that will offer support, appreciation and encouragement to these special Canadians through this letter writing campaign. A group of highly specialized educators have prepared a user-friendly set of guidelines for teachers that covers all subjects of the curriculum at all levels. These guidelines provide suggestions for discussion with students as well as follow-up activities that are age and grade appropriate. | Guide pédagogique

We encourage you to share this information about this project with all of your colleagues and encourage them to get involved. Not only will the soldiers benefit but so will all of your students - this can be a special opportunity for your students to learn about the importance of democracy and freedom, courage and commitment, pride and honour, as well as the facts about the Canadian mission in Afghanistan.
Join with B’nai Brith and Canadians from across the country in saying Thank You to our brave men and women fighting for freedom and democracy in Afghanistan. Our security depends on their courage.
